Which documents can FaarAI read?
For now the driving licence, fuel receipts and insurance policies. We are working on the rest of the documents, and over time it will help in other parts of the app too.
What if the photo is not good enough?
The app tells you it could not read it and asks for a clearer photo, rather than saving half the details. Good light and the whole document in frame both help.
Do I have to check what was read?
It is worth a look. It reads well, but small print and glare can mislead it, so the details are always shown to you before anything is saved.
Does this replace the physical documents?
No. By law you still have to carry your driving licence and vehicle logbook. FaarAI keeps the details to hand, but it is not an official document.
Where is the photo processed?
The reading happens on Google's Vertex AI service, on servers inside the European Union, so the photo does not leave the European Economic Area. Under Google Cloud's terms what is sent is not used to train or improve its models and is not put in front of human reviewers. No. Like the rest of the app, it is free.
